Budapest, September 21 (Xinhua) — The seminar celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Hungary and the Hungary China Friendship Association, was held in Budapest on the 20th. The friendly officials from China and Hungary in attendance praised the achievements of pragmatic cooperation between the two countries over the past 75 years and provided suggestions for promoting high-quality development of China Hungary relations.
Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Gong Tao delivered a speech at the seminar, saying that for 75 years, the two countries have always adhered to the original intention of establishing diplomatic relations, adhered to sincere friendship, win-win cooperation, and people to people exchanges, and continued to deepen practical cooperation in various fields such as trade, investment, infrastructure, finance, new energy, and communication technology. In 2023, China once again became Hungary’s largest source of investment, with various investment projects creating over 10000 job opportunities for Hungary. China is willing to continue to deepen the docking of the “the Belt and Road” initiative and the “opening to the east” strategy with Hungary, accelerate the promotion of major cooperation and investment projects such as the Hungary Serbia Railway, and play a leading role in China EU cooperation.
In his speech, the Vice President of the Hungarian Parliament Lotolcaoyi Janos said that Hungary is the first European country to sign the “the Belt and Road” cooperation document with China. The initiative is deeply linked with Hungary’s “opening to the east” strategy, which has become the cornerstone of bilateral cooperation between Hungary and China. The bilateral cooperation in political, economic, cultural and other fields has yielded fruitful results. In an increasingly complex world, Hungary will continue to do everything possible to become a bridge and link between the East and the West.
During an interview with Xinhua News Agency after the meeting, Nagi Yudit Ava, Chairman of the Hungary China Friendship Association, said that in recent years, the two countries have benefited greatly from exchanges and cooperation in trade, culture, education, tourism and other fields. With the deepening of mutual understanding between Hungary and China, the relationship between the two countries will achieve further development.
Horvat Levent, Director of the Eurasian Center at Johann von Neumann University in Hungary, stated that in recent years, cooperation between Hungary and China has flourished in various fields, with a large number of Chinese companies investing and developing in Hungary. This not only creates a large number of job opportunities for Hungary, but also contributes to improving its technological level and promoting its economic development.
