On February 1st, multiple media outlets in the United States reported on January 31st that the Trump administration had forced several FBI officials to resign, who had conducted criminal investigations into participants in the January 6th, 2021 Capitol Hill riots. NBC cited FBI officials as saying that the Trump administration has forced six senior executives of the bureau and heads of multiple branches across the country to step down, including senior leaders of the Washington D.C. branch who participated in the prosecution of Trump. The report states that the US Department of Justice has also dismissed several federal prosecutors responsible for conducting criminal investigations into participants in the Capitol Hill riots.
