On April 19th, Taras Kachika, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine, stated on a Ukrainian television program that during the negotiations between Ukraine and the United States on a mineral resources agreement, there have been no discussions on any new debt or the conversion of previous US aid to Ukraine into debt. He stated that there is no “debt” logic in the proposals of the United States and Ukraine. He also stated that Ukraine has raised the issue of US military assistance and expects the US to respond.
