Russia will launch gas transmission project to Iran with an annual capacity of 1.8 billion cubic meters

On April 26th, Russian Energy Minister Zivel and Iranian Oil Minister Ahmadinejad held the 18th Russia Iran Intergovernmental Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee meeting in Moscow, discussing various issues such as the implementation of energy projects. Russian Energy Minister Zivelov stated that the project to transport Russian natural gas through Azerbaijan to Iran is about to commence, with an annual transmission capacity of 1.8 billion cubic meters. After the final price is negotiated and agreed upon, gas supply can begin within the year. In addition, the meeting also discussed multiple topics, including extending the operating period of Russian companies in Iranian oil and gas fields, transit routes for Russian petroleum products, simplifying mutual trade settlements, peaceful use of nuclear energy, and construction of new nuclear power plant units. During the meeting, Russia and Iran also discussed the unification of standards between the two countries to promote bilateral trade, and further cooperation in the fields of medical cooperation and agricultural product supply.
