Zelensky announces details of meeting with Trump, emphasizes achieving a comprehensive and unconditional ceasefire

On April 26th, Ukrainian President Zelensky shared for the first time on social media the details of his meeting with US President Trump. Zelensky called the meeting “very good” and said that both sides had time to discuss many matters one-on-one. He hopes that the content of this conversation can have a good outcome. Zelensky emphasized that protecting the lives of the Ukrainian people is of paramount importance, and achieving a comprehensive, unconditional ceasefire and establishing a reliable and lasting peace to prevent the recurrence of conflict is his desired goal. He also pointed out that this is a highly symbolic meeting, and if a common outcome can be achieved, it could become a ‘historic meeting’. On that day, Ukrainian President Zelensky had a brief meeting with US President Trump at the Vatican. This is the first face-to-face encounter between Trump and Zelensky after their argument at the White House in February this year.
