On May 3rd, Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao made solemn representations to Japan’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ken’yu Funako, regarding the intrusion of Japanese civilian aircraft into our airspace over the Diaoyu Islands. Wu Jianghao stated that on May 3rd, the Japanese government allowed a Japanese civilian aircraft to illegally enter the airspace of the Diaoyu Islands, seriously violating China’s sovereignty. The Chinese side is strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposed, and has taken necessary control measures in accordance with the law to warn and expel. The Chinese side demands that the Japanese side recognize the seriousness of the situation and take practical measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again. The Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated islands are China’s inherent territory. If Japan takes new provocative actions, China will definitely take resolute countermeasures and firmly safeguard national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
