Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party wins the 2025 general election

On the early morning of May 4th, the official vote counting results released by the Singapore Election Bureau showed that the ruling party, the People’s Action Party, won the 2025 general election. In this parliamentary election, 209 candidates from 11 political parties and 2 independent candidates competed for 97 parliamentary seats in 33 constituencies. This election is the first time since Singapore’s current Prime Minister, Wong Shun Choi, took office in 2024 that he has led the ruling People’s Action Party to participate in parliamentary elections. The Singapore Parliament adopts a unicameral system, with members elected by voters for a term of 5 years. The political party holding the majority of seats in the Parliament can form a government.
