On May 6th, Peruvian President Borualte announced on May 5th that a curfew will be implemented in the Patas area, where a group of miners were killed in the La Libertad province, to address the increasingly rampant criminal activities in the area. According to the curfew, all mining activities in the Patas area will be suspended for 30 days. Borualte also announced that the Peruvian armed forces will take over the mining area where the miners were killed.
