On May 12th, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira and Chief Special Advisor to the President Amorim in Beijing. Both sides reviewed the frequent exchanges between the two heads of state in recent years, deeply communicated on the implementation of President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan last year, and prepared for President Lula’s visit to China, especially the important meeting between the two heads of state. They unanimously agreed to promote the construction of the China Pakistan community of shared future in accordance with the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, adhere to multilateralism, uphold recognized international rules, jointly defend the legitimate rights and interests of the global South, and make China Pakistan contributions to promoting world peace, stability, and development. Both sides also exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis and expressed support for direct dialogue and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. They will continue to play the role of the “Friends of Peace” group and gather more international consensus to promote political resolution of the crisis.
