On May 17th, it was learned from the Ministry of Water Resources that as of mid May, the average precipitation in China this year was nearly 20% lower than the same period in previous years, and the water inflow from major rivers was nearly 30% lower than the same period in previous years. In order to fully guarantee irrigation water for grain production, the Ministry of Water Resources scientifically schedules water projects, plays the role of the main force in large and medium-sized irrigation areas, and various basin management agencies also strengthen water allocation. At present, the spring irrigation area in China has reached 360 million mu, of which 5230 large and medium-sized irrigation areas have been launched, irrigating 250 million mu. 237 large and medium-sized irrigation areas in drought affected regions of Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi and other provinces have provided a cumulative water supply of over 1.7 billion cubic meters, irrigating an area of 15.7 million mu, and ensuring overall irrigation water supply.
