Israeli Prime Minister approves immediate resumption of humanitarian aid to Gaza

On May 19th, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu approved the immediate resumption of humanitarian aid to Gaza at a security cabinet meeting. In a statement confirming this decision, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated that it was “based on the advice of the Israeli Defense Forces and taking into account the need to expand intense fighting to defeat the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)”. Netanyahu stated that Israel “will allow the provision of a basic amount of food to the residents of the Gaza Strip to prevent a famine crisis,” as such a crisis “will jeopardize continued efforts to strike Hamas.
