Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman, said recently at the China Oman Friendship and Cooperation Forum that under the framework of high-quality joint construction of the “the Belt and Road”, Oman has attracted a number of Chinese direct investment, such as renewable energy technology projects in the Suhar Free Zone, which has become a model of industrial cooperation between the two countries.

Saleh welcomed Chinese companies to invest in Oman in his speech at the forum. Oman has a stable political and economic environment, equipped with modern ports and airports, efficient digital connections, and a highly skilled workforce. These advantages make Oman an ideal investment destination for global investors, especially Chinese investors

The China Oman Friendship and Cooperation Forum, jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Oman, the Oman China Friendship Association, and the Viewpoint Daily, was held on July 31st in Salalah, the second largest city in Oman and an important hub of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. Political, business, and media figures from Oman attending the meeting stated that China is Oman’s largest trading partner, and Oman hopes to leverage the new opportunities brought by China’s high-quality economic development to further expand the space for economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

Khalid, President of Oman China Friendship Association, said that the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road” has strongly promoted exchanges between the East and the West. Oman has a unique strategic location, profound cultural heritage, and ambitious development vision, which fully qualifies it to become a regional hub and provide a platform for expanding economic, trade, and cultural cooperation between China, the Arab world, and the Horn of Africa region.

In recent years, Oman has actively promoted the transformation of its oil economy, and China is becoming an important partner for its cooperation. Tai, the editor in chief of Oman’s Opinion Daily, stated that Chinese companies invest in various economic zones and free zones in Oman, covering areas such as energy, heavy industry, and infrastructure. The two countries have great potential for cooperation in renewable energy, technology, smart agriculture, and tourism.

Naif, the chairman of the Omani Chamber of Commerce in Zafar Province, said that the Omani Chamber of Commerce regards strengthening high-quality cooperation and attracting high value-added investment as its top priority, and strives to broaden communication channels between Omani and Chinese investors, creating a favorable investment environment. Throughout history, the Arab Chinese relationship has always been a model of mutual learning of civilizations, economic and trade integration, and mutual openness. Nowadays, both sides have broader prospects for economic cooperation
