Lanzhou, September 21 (Xinhua) — The 8th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo opened on September 21 in Dunhuang, Gansu Province. More than a thousand Chinese and foreign guests from 97 countries and 8 international organizations held dialogues around the theme of “strengthening cultural exchanges and promoting mutual learning of civilizations”, continuously deepening cultural integration and mutual learning, and promoting harmonious coexistence among different civilizations.
More than 2000 years ago, the ancient Silk Road built a bridge for friendly exchanges and cultural exchanges between the East and the West, and diverse civilizations converged and blended in Dunhuang, the “throat of the Silk Road”.
This year’s Dunhuang Cultural Expo will hold a series of activities such as cultural exhibitions, artistic performances, academic exchanges, and investment promotion, which not only showcase the vitality of culture, but also provide a good platform for deepening exchanges and cooperation among guests from various countries.
As a comprehensive international exposition with the theme of “the Belt and Road” cultural exchange, Dunhuang ICIF has played a positive role in promoting cultural integration, ideological integration and emotional integration. Since 2016, the Dunhuang Cultural Expo has been successfully held for 7 sessions, featuring a series of cultural exchange activities such as exhibitions and performances, attracting nearly 10000 guests from more than 120 countries and regions.
Chinese and foreign guests expressed their hope that this Dunhuang ICIF will implement the global civilization initiative, deepen civilization exchanges and mutual learning, and jointly look forward to the good vision of high-quality joint construction of the “the Belt and Road”.
