China’s aid to Mongolia shantytown renovation project completed

Ulaanbaatar, October 16 (Xinhua) — On the 16th, the Mongolian shantytown renovation project “Green Lake 1008 Residential Area”, which was assisted by China, was officially completed. Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Shen Minjuan and Mongolian Minister of Urban Development, Construction and Housing E Batamugeleng attended the completion ceremony.

Shen Minjuan stated in her speech that 76 years ago today, China and Mongolia officially established diplomatic relations, sowing the seeds of neighborly friendship and mutual assistance. Nowadays, pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has flourished and yielded fruitful results. The shantytown reconstruction project is an important achievement of the integration of the “the Belt and Road” initiative and the “Grassland Road” strategy under the strategic leadership of the leaders of the two countries. It will not only greatly improve the living conditions and living environment of the residents in Ulaanbaatar shantytown, but also expand the urban space and enhance the city image, becoming another landmark project of China Mongolia friendship in the new period.

Elbat Amugeleng stated that the “Green Lake 1008 Residential Area” is a model of cooperation in the field of architecture between the two countries. The project has been completed with advanced technology and high standards, which is of great significance in alleviating traffic congestion in the capital, reducing population density, and solving the problems of drinking water sources and air pollution. It is reported that the total construction area of the “Green Lake 1008 Residential Area” project is about 94000 square meters.
