The “circle of friends” of green “the Belt and Road” international cooperation is growing – insiders offer high-quality advice to promote the green “the Belt and Road” construction

Develop and implement small and beautiful projects such as the “African Light Belt” to help solve the lighting problem of over 50000 households without electricity in Africa; Implement the Green Silk Road Messenger Plan and the “the Belt and Road” South South Cooperation Plan on Climate Change; Signed cooperation and assistance agreements on climate change with 42 co building countries, and implemented over 70 various aid projects

At present, green is becoming the distinctive background of the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road”, and the “circle of friends” of the green “the Belt and Road” international cooperation is growing.

This reporter learned from the “the Belt and Road” Green Innovation Conference held in Beijing on the 18th.

Sun Jinlong, Secretary of the Party Group of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, introduced at the meeting that in recent years, China has created the largest successful practice for developing countries to effectively protect the ecological environment while achieving rapid economic and social development. China not only continues to promote its own ecological civilization construction, but also actively participates in and leads global environmental governance, becoming a firm activist and important contributor to the world’s green development.

More than a decade after the proposal of the “the Belt and Road” initiative, China has always adhered to the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, supported the green transformation of developing countries with practical actions, and contributed Chinese wisdom and strength to global sustainable development. Participants believed that the green “the Belt and Road” construction not only helped the co construction countries enhance the endogenous power and capacity of green development, but also provided an important carrier for developing countries to explore a new path of coordinated development and protection.

Cambodian Minister of Environment Yang Sopele introduced that the current environmental protection measures in Cambodia are constantly increasing, especially focusing on preventing and controlling plastic pollution. He stated that in the future, Cambodia will accelerate the construction of green infrastructure and technological innovation, and hopes to introduce China’s waste to energy technology to turn waste into treasure.

Zhang Jun, Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia, stated that according to research, China, Japan, South Korea, and other Asian countries have demonstrated impressive innovation in areas such as clean energy and electric vehicles, providing strong support for achieving carbon neutrality and green transformation.

In response to the current widespread problem of a huge gap in green financing funds, Zhang Jun suggests increasing efforts in green investment to fill the gap in green financing. Promote the reform of the international financial system and make substantial progress as soon as possible, ensuring that developed countries fulfill their commitments to climate financing and other areas. At the same time, countries need to improve fiscal policies, optimize tax incentives, and leverage more social capital to invest in areas such as green energy and green manufacturing.

In the view of Honduran Ambassador to China Moncada, developing countries need to obtain affordable and fair financing support, and continuously improve their ability to undergo green transformation. Previously, the Ministry of Energy of Honduras, Powerchina and the the Belt and Road Green Development International Alliance signed a memorandum of cooperation. Under the framework of the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road”, the three parties will strengthen cooperation in areas such as power planning assessment, renewable energy project development, and support Honduras to develop an overall energy plan to achieve green, low-carbon and sustainable development.

Realizing green development cannot be achieved alone, but requires strong partnerships and shared technological innovation, “said Enkhbold, the Mongolian Ambassador to China. Mongolia is facing the threat of desertification and land degradation. China and Mongolia will cooperate to establish the China Mongolia Desertification Prevention and Control Cooperation Center, and provide financial and technological support. We hope that all parties can work together to promote green innovation, deepen international cooperation, and build a greener, more resilient, and more harmonious future.

“We are willing to work with all parties to promote the implementation of the global governance initiative, adhere to the principle of joint consultation, joint construction and sharing, promote the green ‘the Belt and Road’ construction in a high-quality manner, and help jointly build a country to accelerate the realization of green and low-carbon transformation goals.” Sun Jinlong suggested that we should pool the joint forces of development, improve the support and guarantee system, and continue to improve the environmental governance level of the “the Belt and Road”. At the same time, expand investment and financing channels and enhance the green “the Belt and Road” sustainable development vitality. Promote the construction of a more open, transparent, and inclusive green investment and financing system, form a development model and investment and financing mechanism guided by green development, continuously enrich financial products and tools, and create a multi-level and diversified new pattern of green investment and financing.

It is reported that with the theme of “cohesion and financing, driving green development”, the conference was hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, organized by the “the Belt and Road” Green Development International Alliance and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Center, and nearly 300 people from 39 countries attended the conference.
