Brazzaville, February 25th (Xinhua) — Libreville News: Yugo Mbadinga Madia, an expert from the Gabon think tank Prometheus Consulting Group and former Minister of Investment Promotion, recently posted on social media that China has announced the full implementation of zero tariff measures for 53 African countries that have diplomatic relations with China. African countries should seize this important opportunity window to promote sustained growth in bilateral trade.
Mbadinga said that the zero tariff measures are beneficial for multiple African countries to further explore the Chinese market, unleash the enormous potential of China Africa economic and trade cooperation, and reshape the global trade pattern. African countries should seize the historical opportunity and promote implementation within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area, so that this measure can bring more added value to Africa.
He pointed out that African countries should formulate coordinated strategies, including enhancing local productivity, improving the logistics system between China and Africa, building trade and investment cooperation platforms, and promoting the development of processing industries.
Mbadinga said that in order to benefit more countries from the zero tariff measures, African countries should take effective measures to improve the business environment, establish a sound foreign trade financing system, and improve relevant legal frameworks.
Mbadinger stated that China’s expansion of market access not only promotes the export of raw materials from African countries, but also drives the development of Africa’s processing industry and industrialization. China’s zero tariff measures will bring a strategically significant window of opportunity for Africa.
