Overview | Many countries praise China for contributing wisdom to reforming and improving global governance

The Global Governance Symposium and the English version of Volume 1 of “A Record of Governance in the New Era” were held on the 24th at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. About 200 representatives from United Nations agencies and international organizations, ambassadors and think tanks from multiple countries to the United Nations, and business people attended the meeting. The attending guests praised China for contributing wisdom to the reform and improvement of global governance.

Ambassador Ehit, the Permanent Representative of Cameroon to the United Nations in Geneva, stated that the current United Nations system and multilateralism are facing a series of challenges. It is very timely and significant for Xinhua News Agency, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva, and other international organizations in Switzerland to jointly hold a seminar on global governance. China’s continuous participation in multilateral processes and efforts to promote attention to global governance issues are commendable.

Carter Lugalos, the independent expert on democratic and fair international order of the United Nations Human Rights Council, stated that China plays an extremely important role in the multilateral system and plays a crucial role in improving global governance and promoting the development of human society.

Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Osman, stated that this global governance seminar provides an opportunity for developing countries to participate in major global issues and promote in-depth discussions and consultations on inclusive development, technological transformation, and other topics.

The Executive Director of the Southern Center, Correa, stated that holding the Global Governance Seminar and the English version launch of the first volume of “A New Era of Governance” is of great significance to developing countries and even the entire international community. Driven by a series of Chinese initiatives, South South cooperation has been further deepened and developed. Jointly building the “the Belt and Road” initiative, the BRICS cooperation mechanism and other countries to promote cooperation in meteorological satellites, public health and other aspects among many southern countries, and provide support for the realization of global sustainable development goals.

The CEO of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Bedkey, said that he is very much looking forward to reading the book “A Record of Governance in the New Era”. In the field of sustainable development, China has taken the lead in the world and provided valuable experience and demonstration for other countries to learn from. Jointly building the “the Belt and Road” cooperation is becoming a people-oriented and sustainable development model.

Hussain Askari, Deputy Director of the Swedish “the Belt and Road” Research Institute, pointed out that the issuance of the English version of “Record of Governance in the New Era” is of great significance, providing the international community with a “window to understand China’s progress towards prosperity”, from which we can deeply understand the coherence, outstanding achievements and grand vision of China’s governance.
