On May 1st, big data analysis found that the popularity of travel during this year’s May Day holiday began to heat up on April 22nd and peaked directly on May 1st! The number of tourists is expected to increase by 8% compared to last year. In terms of domestic tourism, first and second tier cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Shanghai are still the “top tier”, directly attracting nearly 60% of the country’s tourists! In the week before the holiday, the number of rural tourists also increased by 12%, with Yunnan, Guizhou, Xinjiang, Hunan and other places firmly occupying the C-position in rural tourism. Analyzing international roaming data, it was found that the number of international roaming business orders increased by over 50% year-on-year in the week before the holiday. Short term outbound tourism from Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and other regions accounts for over 60%. Long term outbound tourism towards Europe has also increased by 27%.
