Jin Ping said that during this visit, Cambodia and China issued a joint statement, elevating bilateral relations to a “new era all-weather China Cambodia community of shared future”. This is the first time that China has established such a relationship with Southeast Asian countries, which is of milestone significance and sets a benchmark for deepening regional partnerships.
He said that both sides agreed to deepen the connection between the “the Belt and Road” initiative and Cambodia’s “Five Corners Strategy” and provide a road map for the implementation of the global development initiative, the global security initiative and the global civilization initiative. The joint statement of the two countries proposes to continue enriching the “Diamond Six Sides” cooperation framework between Cambodia and China, accelerate the construction of the “Industrial Development Corridor” and “Fish and Rice Corridor”, and other measures that are crucial for Cambodia’s economic transformation, providing strong support for Cambodia to achieve its goal of entering the ranks of upper middle income countries by 2030 and becoming a high-income country by 2050.
Jin Ping said that there have been fruitful achievements in cultural exchanges between Cambodia and China. Both sides highly appreciate the 2024 “China Cambodia Cultural Exchange Year” event and have designated 2025 as the “China Cambodia Tourism Year” to revitalize the tourism industry and promote people to people exchanges. The cultural heritage restoration work being carried out by China at Angkor Wat and Preah Vihear Temple in Cambodia reflects the strong partnership between the two countries. The two countries agree to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, vocational training, Chinese language teaching, healthcare, and traditional medicine. In addition, both sides expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation in the field of think tanks and promised to continue to host the China Cambodia Think Tank Forum, strengthen academic cooperation, engage in policy dialogue, and provide intellectual support for bilateral cooperation.
