Tianjin, August 25th (Xinhua) — After completing a 4-month Chinese language training program at Tianjin University, Temurzoda Amirhamza, a young Tajikistan citizen, is actively applying for a work visa in China.
Tan Amu, 24 years old, comes from Dangala City, Khatlon Oblast, Tajikistan, about 100 kilometers away from the capital Dushanbe. In recent years, driven by the initiative of China to jointly build the “the Belt and Road”, the city of Dangala has become one of the important nodes of China Tajikistan economic and trade cooperation.
Watching more and more Chinese companies invest and build industrial parks in their hometowns, I realized that economic and trade cooperation can not only create employment opportunities, but also have a profound impact on the regional economy, “said Tan Amu.

During his enrollment in the Finance and Economics program at Tajikistan National University, Tan Amu keenly grasped the enormous potential of Chinese goods in the Tajikistan market. Chinese technology products such as smartwatches and mobile phones have good quality and affordable prices, and are very popular among young people in our country
He purchases Chinese goods through Alibaba International and sells them on social platforms in Tajikistan, earning a monthly profit of about $1000. In just two years, his social media account has gained tens of thousands of followers, becoming a stable customer base.
As the business scale expanded, he registered and established a trading company in his third year of college, created his own brand, and also formed a professional team covering procurement, logistics, warehousing, and IT operations. Just like a Chinese saying goes: “Although a sparrow is small, it has all five organs,” Tan Amu said. “In the early stages of entrepreneurship, although the company was not large in scale, it had complete functions, which laid the foundation for my future greater development
As a member state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in recent years, the economic and trade vitality between China and Tajikistan has continued to flourish. China has long been Tajikistan’s largest source of investment and one of its major trading partners.
Many young Tajikistan people see the potential of the Chinese market and have gone to China to learn language, economics, and trade knowledge, preparing for their future careers.
In April 2023, in order to further enhance his trade knowledge reserve, Tan Amu came to China for the first time and entered Shanxi University of Finance and Economics to pursue a Master’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in International Trade and Management. The project was taught entirely in English, and despite outstanding academic performance, his Chinese proficiency was still in the basic stage upon graduation.
In March 2025, Tan Amu began studying Chinese at Tianjin University. In order to practice speaking and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and customs, Tan Amu often goes to the vegetable market near the school to communicate with vendors.

From simple communication to proficient business negotiation, he only took three months. In May of this year, he successfully passed the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Level 4.
He also self funded to participate in online international trade practice courses, systematically learning about the business processes, registration procedures, import and export customs declaration, and tax and finance of cross-border trade in China.
Speaking of future plans, Tan Amu hopes to explore more potential directions for economic and trade exchanges from the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, and deepen his understanding of Chinese culture, economy, and market.
I plan to work in a China Tajikistan international trade related enterprise for a few years to accumulate industry experience, and then return to China to continue entrepreneurship and establish a company focused on China Tajikistan trade. “Tan Amu is full of confidence and expectations.
China has opened up a world full of possibilities for me. The Chinese market is vast and full of opportunities. I want to introduce more Chinese products to Tajikistan, while also helping Tajikistan’s characteristic products enter the Chinese market and become the ‘New Silk Road Ambassador’, “said Tan Amu.
