Amir Tammam, Deputy Editor in Chief of Egypt’s “News” newspaper, recently stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency in Cairo that China’s long-term planning has provided important tools for addressing challenges and played an important role in promoting development in various fields.

2025 is the final year of China’s 14th Five Year Plan. Tamam believes that China’s development focus has shifted towards high-quality development, enhancing the reputation of its exported products, such as electric vehicles. He said that China attaches great importance to economic growth, technological innovation, environmental protection, and social welfare. These efforts improve the living standards of the domestic people and benefit the world, benefiting many countries.

Tamam used keywords such as “diversity, innovation, and openness” to describe the development characteristics of China in the past five years. He said that despite facing challenges, China still maintains an economic growth rate of around 5%, demonstrating the foresight of its strategic planning and its own development resilience. China contributes about 30% to global economic growth. In this uncertain world, China has become the cornerstone of stability

Tamam said that China has successively put forward the “the Belt and Road Initiative”, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. These initiatives have been integrated into China’s long-term plan to achieve common development with other countries.

He said that the countries under the “the Belt and Road” initiative have gained tangible benefits in the fields of infrastructure construction, trade and investment. Egypt is a model of mutually beneficial cooperation with China in green economy and infrastructure related projects.

Tamam expects that in the next five years, China will continue to prioritize technological innovation, artificial intelligence, digital economy, and addressing climate change.

China’s development originates from the people and serves the people, “said Tamam. China has transformed human capital into a driving force for growth, becoming an inspiring example. He believes that the common characteristics and political consensus among countries in the global South make it easier for developing countries to learn from China’s experience.
