International Observation | Joining Hands with “AI+” to Empower Cooperation, China and Malaysia Embrace Innovative Development Together

Kuala Lumpur/Nanning, November 30 (Xinhua) — Joining hands with “AI+” to empower cooperation and embrace innovative development between China and Malaysia

Entering the China Malaysia Artificial Intelligence Application Cooperation Center located in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, a sense of the future is instantly present: intelligent interactive devices shine with the light of technology, and the experience and interaction of artificial intelligence (AI) technology are smooth and efficient, making people feel like they are in a science fiction scene.

This AI Application Cooperation Center, jointly operated by Guangxi Beitou Xinchuang Technology Investment Group Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Beitou Xinchuang”) and Malaysian Digital Service Enterprise (MYEG), is a vivid epitome of the emerging industry cooperation between the two countries. In recent years, as the initiative of jointly building the “the Belt and Road” continues to advance, China and Malaysia continue to expand their cooperation in the digital field, injecting new momentum into regional innovation and development.

Technological Collaboration Composes a New Chapter of “AI+”

From the signing of a memorandum of understanding on deepening AI cooperation between China and Malaysia in April, the China Intelligent Technology Exhibition held in Kuala Lumpur in May, and the 2025 China Mobile Southeast Asia Regional Cooperation Conference focused on “AI+” empowerment held in August, the pace of China Malaysia digital cooperation has become increasingly steady.

Observers point out that in recent years, digital technology cooperation between China and Malaysia has been carried out at multiple levels, gradually becoming an important force in promoting regional economic innovation and development.

Malaysian Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo stated that Southeast Asia is gradually becoming an important engine for global digital user growth, and the release of regional market potential requires collaborative support from partners such as China. The Malaysian side will always promote digital construction with an open mind, and cooperation with China is the core link to achieve inclusive growth.

Hikvision provides digital services to over 50 local and foreign-funded enterprises in Malaysia, helping them upgrade and transform. IFlytek and Malaysia’s Haoxiang Radio, Television and Film Group have collaborated to launch the “AI Multi Language Intelligent Translation Center”, integrating iFlytek’s core technology capabilities in multilingual speech recognition, high fidelity dubbing, audio and video translation, and supporting the translation of over 130 languages including Malay, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, etc., achieving “30 minute fast translation” of film and television content.

The 2025 Honor Artificial Intelligence and Design Summit (Asia Pacific) will be held in Kuala Lumpur on the 27th. Xu Zhiyu, Senior Vice President of Honor Terminal Co., Ltd., the organizer of the event, stated at the meeting that Honor has built an open artificial intelligence terminal ecosystem, broken hardware boundaries, achieved cross scenario intelligent collaboration, and helped the Asia Pacific region’s industries transform towards high-end and intelligent development.

Member of the ASEAN Parliamentary Union Assembly and Malaysian Member of Parliament, Hua Lan, stated in an interview with reporters that Malaysia is ready to continue deepening cooperation with China in areas such as digital transformation, green growth, and supply chain resilience, and jointly promote ASEAN China cooperation as a stable force for prosperity and development in the Asia Pacific region.

Open up the Internet and expand the regional innovation ecosystem

Looking around the China Malaysia Artificial Intelligence Application Cooperation Center, there are over 20 independent booths and various immersive display terminals showcasing advanced solutions from Chinese technology companies in fields such as justice and transportation. Among them, the China ASEAN Cross border License Service Platform project has become a focus of attention.

The cross-border service platform for certificates and licenses jointly built with the Malaysian side promotes the practical application of mutual recognition of digital identities between the two countries, and looks forward to achieving seamless cross-border identity verification for citizens of the two countries in areas such as driving qualifications, finance, and tourism. Yuan Xiang, Deputy Chief Engineer of Beitou Xinchuang, said that the mutual recognition of digital identities between China and Malaysia has entered the pilot stage in Guangxi, and the service scope will be further expanded in the future.

At the recently held 22nd China ASEAN Expo, numerous AI technology innovation companies showcased their latest achievements. Analysis has pointed out that Chinese science and technology innovation enterprises are accelerating their “technology going global” efforts, jointly building an innovation ecosystem with ASEAN partners, and continuously contributing “Chinese solutions” to the development of regional digital economy.

In recent years, China’s technological progress combined with the super large market effect has significantly reduced the cost of global smart devices, clean energy and other fields, allowing more developing countries to achieve energy transformation at a lower cost. “Chen Jiaxing, Acting Chairman of the Regional Strategy Research Institute, a Malaysian think tank, said that the innovative concept of openness and sharing will provide broader opportunities for cooperation between Malaysia and China in emerging fields such as AI, and gather strength for regional digital ecological transformation.

Empowering cultural exchange with innovative technology

Technologies such as “AI+” not only reshape the economic and industrial landscape, but also promote cultural exchange in a more flexible way. Observers point out that the widespread application of AI technology makes cultural resources more accessible and cultural exchanges more warm, providing new impetus and a broader stage for promoting people to people exchanges between China, Malaysia, and even the ASEAN region.

In the first half of this year, students from 39 universities from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and other countries gathered in Kuala Lumpur to hold an application innovation competition around the theme of “AI+education integration and innovation, jointly cultivating digital modern craftsmanship talents”. Young students exchange academic ideas and collide innovative inspirations in competitions, reflecting their enthusiasm for embracing the digital age and also reflecting that technological cooperation is becoming a new link to promote the interconnection of culture and education.

Public opinion generally believes that from digital industry collaboration to cultural innovation exchange, AI technology has gradually become a new bridge connecting China Malaysia cooperation. It not only brings more sense of participation and gain to the people of the two countries, but also injects more humanistic warmth and vitality into the joint construction of the “Digital Silk Road”.

Malaysia’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Cheng Likang, stated that there is enormous potential for cooperation between Malaysia and China in the fields of cultural and technological integration. We can strengthen cooperation in digital cultural tourism, cultural relic protection, and technological innovation exchanges, and leverage each other’s cultural heritage and technological advantages to promote the establishment of a closer cooperation mechanism
