Li Jian, the mayor of Dongxing City, introduced that the Chinese project construction mainly focuses on two major projects: the Beilun River Bridge Passenger Passage Project, which optimizes the layout of port space, upgrades smart inspection facilities, and builds a collaborative management platform to achieve intelligent and efficient customs clearance, providing a more convenient and comfortable experience for personnel exchanges between the two countries; The second is the Beilun River Second Bridge Freight Channel Project, which focuses on promoting the expansion of port infrastructure and the integration of intelligent supervision systems, upgrading intelligent checkpoints, panoramic monitoring and command centers, exploring new models of intelligent customs clearance, improving cross-border logistics efficiency, and reducing enterprise operating costs.
It is reported that after the completion of the project, the passenger passage of Beilun River Bridge 1 at Dongxing Port can serve a comfortable customs clearance of 35000 people per day, ensuring a peak of 50000 people per day. The freight clearance capacity of trucks in Beilun River Bridge 2 at Dongxing Port will be increased from the current 1000 vehicles per day to 3300 vehicles per day, effectively reducing clearance time, facilitating personnel exchanges and trade between China and Vietnam, and promoting high-quality economic development in border areas.
Dongxing Port is an important border port along the Western Land Sea New Corridor, and also one of the important land routes connecting China to ASEAN. According to data from Dongxing Border Inspection Station, in 2025, the cumulative number of inbound and outbound personnel at Dongxing Port (including the border trade zone) reached 9.622 million, a year-on-year increase of 13%, ranking first among border ports in China.
According to Dongxing Customs statistics, in 2025, the import and export goods of Beilun River Second Bridge at Dongxing Port will be 2.023 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 27.6%; The value of goods was 156.37 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.9%, and both the quantity and value reached a historical high. Among them, the import and export value of goods from provinces, regions, and cities along the Western Land Sea New Corridor via the Beilun River Second Bridge at Dongxing Port reached 59.78 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%.
Mayor Qiu Minghong of Fangchenggang City stated that Fangchenggang is the forefront window for China to face Vietnam. The construction of the project will further improve the connectivity of border ports and help China and Vietnam make good use of free trade agreements such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the China ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0.
