Xinhua News Agency, Brazzaville, February 27 (Reporter Zheng Yangzi) China aided Congo Brazzaville Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center, China Congo Brazzaville Modern Agricultural Technology “the Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory (preparatory) and Congo Brazzaville National Research and Innovation Achievements Promotion Bureau recently jointly held an agricultural technology training class in Brazzaville. More than 30 teachers and students from the agricultural center of the local management and business research institute learned tomato grafting technology on the spot.
During the training period, the Chinese expert team systematically explained the principles and application advantages of tomato grafting technology in the prevention and control of soil borne diseases such as bacterial wilt and root knot nematodes. The students also visited the cassava, vegetable, soybean, corn and other comparative testing bases in the joint laboratory on site, gaining a visual understanding of the experimental planting of multiple crop varieties.
Dielfo Lesebe Gambu, Director of the China Aid to Congo (Brazzaville) Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in Congo, said that tomatoes are a vegetable variety with a high consumption among the Congolese people. The successful application and promotion of tomato grafting technology provide an effective solution for dealing with soil borne diseases such as bacterial wilt, which is of great significance for promoting the quality and efficiency improvement of the local tomato industry.
Li Hanfeng, the Chinese person in charge of the China Aid to Congo (Brazzaville) Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center, stated that this training course not only provides strong support for Congo (Brazzaville) to improve tomato cultivation technology and promote industrial development, but also vividly reflects the continuous deepening of modern agricultural technology cooperation between China and Congo (Brazzaville).
The China Congo Brazzaville Joint Laboratory of Modern Agricultural Technology “the Belt and Road” (preparatory) was established in October 2024 with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and was jointly built by the Tropical Crop Variety Resources Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and the National Crop Disease Control Center of the Congo Brazzaville.
