Xu Feihong stated that China has never made mandatory demands on restricting the export of relevant equipment and personnel to India. On the contrary, China is always willing to share its experience and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly countries. However, the reality is that it is very difficult for Chinese people to obtain Indian visas, Chinese enterprises in India are often treated unfairly by unfriendly people, and there are also voices in the media that do not welcome Chinese investment from time to time, which have had a negative impact on Chinese society. Therefore, on this issue, both sides need to move towards each other and work together.

On April 20, according to the WeChat official account of the “Chinese Embassy in India”, on April 19, 2025, the mainstream English newspaper of India, the Times of India, published a written interview with Ambassador Xu Feihong. Ambassador Xu introduced the high-level exchanges, economic and trade cooperation, and cultural exchanges between China and India, and clarified China’s solemn position on opposing the United States’ indiscriminate imposition of tariffs. Xu Feihong stated that the essence of China India economic and trade relations is mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. China has never deliberately pursued a trade surplus. The situation of trade surplus is naturally formed in a free market economy environment and will also change with market changes. Valuing the massive market of China will bring more business opportunities to Indian companies. In fact, some products that the Indian industry is concerned about, such as chili peppers, iron ore, and cotton yarn, achieved export growth of over 17%, 160%, and 240% to China in the 2024 fiscal year. We welcome more high-quality Indian products to be exported to China and are willing to assist Indian companies in meeting the demands of the Chinese market and exploring more potential for economic and trade cooperation. Indian companies can also make full use of platforms such as China International Import Expo, China South Asia Expo, and China International Consumer Goods Expo to find buyers and consumers in China. At the same time, we also hope that India will pay attention to China’s concerns in the economic and trade field, create a fair, transparent and non discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises, promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and India to a new height, and bring tangible benefits to the two peoples.

On April 20th, Ukrainian President Zelensky posted on social media that the Russian side has not responded to the proposal of a 30 day unconditional ceasefire for 39 days. If Russia suddenly expresses its willingness to join the framework of the unconditional ceasefire, Ukraine will respond equally – how Russia acts will be how Ukraine responds. If a comprehensive ceasefire is truly achieved, Ukraine proposes to extend the ceasefire period until after Easter on April 20th. This will test Russia’s true intentions, as 30 hours is not enough to establish genuine trust measures, and 30 days may create opportunities for peace.
