China and Malaysia’s “Two Countries, Two Parks” Release Top Ten Cooperation Achievements

On the occasion of the fifth meeting of the China Malaysia “Two Countries, Two Parks” Joint Cooperation Council, the China Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and the Malaysia China Kuantan Industrial Park industrial project results release event was held in Qinzhou, Guangxi on April 22. The event reviewed the achievements of China Malaysia’s “Two Countries, Two Parks” joint development in the past twelve years and released the top ten outstanding achievements of cooperation.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, and over the years, exchanges and cooperation between the two sides have become increasingly close. Guangxi is connected to ASEAN by land and sea, and has always been active at the forefront of China Malaysia exchanges and cooperation, with a solid foundation for cooperation between the two sides. In 2013, the Malaysia China Kuantan Industrial Park was officially opened in Kuantan, Malaysia, and together with the China Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park, it created the “Two Countries, Two Parks” model.

The ten major achievements of this release include: Qinzhou Port and Kuantan Port have been concluded as “sisters ports”, providing two-way support for logistics transportation between China and Malaysia; Realizing the normalization of Malaysia’s export of bird’s nest to China and building the first cross-border bird’s nest industry chain between China and ASEAN; Carrying out financial innovation pilot projects in the “Two Countries and Two Parks” between China and Malaysia, with a cumulative business volume exceeding 32 billion yuan; The completion and operation of two 150000 ton deep-water terminals in Guandan Port has driven the annual increase in cargo throughput by 10 million tons; The first phase of the Malaysia China Kuantan Industrial Park Dama United Steel Project has been fully put into operation; The “Two Countries and Two Parks” have respectively landed on each other’s physical investment projects; Successfully held a series of Malaysian specialty product events; Initiate the joint construction of Southeast Asian specialty product import bases and direct sales centers; Open up the green channel for imported raw materials of recycled non-ferrous metals in the “Two Countries and Two Parks” initiative; Actively promoting Chinese enterprises to enter Malaysia, etc.

Wang Xiongchang, Director of the Management Committee of China Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and Mayor of Qinzhou City, stated that in the future, he will seize opportunities such as the in-depth implementation of RCEP and the construction of China ASEAN Free Trade Zone 3.0, actively integrate and serve the new development pattern of domestic and international dual circulation, accelerate the construction of China Malaysia’s “Two Countries and Two Parks”, and create a demonstration area for convenient operation of domestic and international dual circulation markets and a cluster area for high-quality implementation of RCEP demonstration projects.
