Weak exchange rate affects domestic consumption during Japan’s “Golden Week”

The just passed period from April 27th to May 6th is the “Golden Week” holiday for multiple holidays in Japan. However, the persistently hovering historical low yen exchange rate has caused a change in the country’s consumption trend: foreign tourists are spending vigorously due to the exchange rate advantage, while domestic Japanese consumers are bearing higher import product prices and overseas consumption costs, resulting in a weak domestic demand trend.
