On April 18th, China Southern Power Grid Corporation announced that in the first quarter of this year, the total electricity consumption of the five provinces and regions in southern China (Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan) reached 380.9 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 4%. Looking at provinces and regions, Guangdong’s electricity consumption in the first quarter was 187.1 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 3%. The industrial electricity consumption in Guangdong reached 110.8 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, contributing 66% to the province’s electricity consumption growth.
