Nairobi, November 3 (Xinhua) — Recently, the Kenya National A-level Highway A1 Project, constructed by China Railway Tenth Bureau Africa Branch, has passed the acceptance inspection and officially opened to traffic, marking the completion of this key transportation project and injecting strong impetus into the social and economic development of Kisumu County and even western Kenya.

It is reported that the A1 highway project is located in the urban area of Kisumu County in western Kenya, with a two-way four lane design and a total length of 4.47 kilometers.

Faced with the complex urban construction environment and unfavorable factors such as rainy season, the project team innovatively adopted the “suspended formwork on-site pouring” technology, effectively avoiding the interference of railway operation on construction, ensuring the safety of railway operation while ensuring progress. In addition, through the “mentorship” model of a small team consisting of one Chinese worker and 20 local workers, a group of skilled workers have been trained for the local area.

It is reported that the opening of A1 highway provides a solid foundation for optimizing the local public transportation system, solving the long-term traffic congestion problem of the “last five kilometers” from Kakamega to the center of Kisumu, and improving the convenience and comfort of citizens’ travel. This efficient and convenient channel will effectively promote commercial exchanges and material circulation between Kisumu and external regions, injecting new momentum into regional trade development and economic growth.
