Moscow, November 28 (Xinhua) — A seminar on “Creating a New Era of China Russia Cooperation and Implementing a New Vision for Global Governance” was held on the 27th at the Chinese Embassy in Russia. More than 40 representatives from the political, academic, and media circles of China and Russia attended the event, discussing the broad prospects for China Russia cooperation in improving the global governance system.
Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said at the seminar that the international community is currently experiencing unprecedented pressure tests on its governance system. The Global Governance Initiative is another major international public good provided by China to the world, providing a systematic solution for reforming and improving global governance. China and Russia are both founding members of the United Nations and permanent members of the Security Council, with similar positions on major issues such as maintaining the post World War II international order, promoting world multipolarity, and democratization of international relations. China is willing to join hands with the international community, including Russia, to take the implementation of global governance initiatives as an opportunity to build a more just and reasonable global governance system, and continuously promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The first vice chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament), Denisov, highly praised China’s four major global initiatives. He pointed out that these initiatives have a sound theoretical system, sending a sincere invitation to the international community to take joint action, and providing ideological guidance for the long-term development of human society.
Babaev, director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia at the Russian Academy of Sciences, believes that the Russia China relationship is at an unprecedented high level, and the two countries’ relationship is built on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and immunity from external factors, which has become a model for the world. He emphasized that the cooperation between Russia and China under multilateral mechanisms such as the BRICS cooperation mechanism and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is highly effective, and their ideas in promoting the continuous improvement of the global governance system are also highly compatible.
Panina, director of the Russian Institute for International Political and Economic Strategy, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that China has long advocated the sovereign equality of all countries and respect for diversity of civilizations. It is these ideas that make the cooperation of jointly building the “the Belt and Road” flourish.
Other attending experts stated that the unprecedented global changes are accelerating, and the international governance system is facing unprecedented challenges. The four major global initiatives proposed by China not only demonstrate China’s commitment to defending a fair and just international order, but also inject stability and positive energy into the turbulent world.
This seminar is supported by the Chinese Embassy in Russia and hosted by the Russian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Institute of Chinese and Modern Asian Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
