Sofia, January 13 (Xinhua) – Interview with Todorov, Vice President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, on the huge potential for cooperation between Bulgaria and China in high-tech and green industries
Vasil Todorov, Vice President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, recently stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency in Sofia that the economic and trade relations between Bulgaria and China continue to improve, and there is enormous potential for cooperation in high-tech and green industries between the two sides. China has advantages in cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and drone applications, and is an important partner for Bulgaria and the European Union.
Todorov said that taking Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone this year as an opportunity, Bulgaria can not only become an important gateway for Chinese companies to enter the EU market, but also look forward to promoting structural upgrading of bilateral cooperation. While deepening cooperation in traditional fields such as agriculture, China and Bulgaria can also extend to high-end manufacturing and joint research and development, jointly building a more resilient and deep long-term industrial cooperation relationship.
He specifically mentioned the prospects for cooperation in the field of drones. I have seen a network in Shenzhen where food delivery is entirely delivered by drones. Bulgaria can learn from relevant experience and establish a more efficient logistics cooperation mechanism with Chinese companies
When it comes to the automotive industry, Todorov said that although about 80% of the EU’s automotive sensors are produced in Bulgaria, the country still lacks the ability to assemble complete vehicles. We have completely opened our doors to Chinese car companies, “he said,” and the government and business community support Chinese car companies in investing and setting up factories in Bao
Todorov emphasized that green transformation and digitization are the core directions of the current EU strategy, and China has obvious technological and industrial advantages in these areas. He expects Chinese electric vehicle companies to establish production bases in Bulgaria and jointly develop vehicles and components for the European and even global markets.
He believes that photovoltaics is another key direction of cooperation between China and Bulgaria. China holds an important share in the global photovoltaic market, and the development of solar energy is highly aligned with the green energy goals advocated by the European Union. This field is expected to become a highlight of bilateral cooperation.
Todorov praised Chinese companies for adhering to an innovation driven development model. Even though they have already occupied a certain market share, Chinese companies continue to invest in research and development and launch new products. This innovation oriented concept is worth learning from for Bulgarian companies
