Heavy rainfall causing excessive flooding in coastal rivers of Guangxi

Rivers such as the Qinjiang and Maoling rivers in Guangxi, as well as the Zuojiang and its tributaries Mingjiang, have experienced a 1-4 meter flood process.

The reporter learned from Guangxi Hydrological Center today that due to the impact of heavy rainfall since May 9th,

At 11:00 on the 10th, the water level of the Dazhi River, a tributary of the Maoling River, was 8.94 meters, exceeding the warning by 0.94 meters. The water levels of other rivers were below the warning level. Guangxi Hydrological Center predicts:

In the next 6-12 hours, Fangcheng River, Maoling River and their tributaries Dazhi River, Tanying River, and Dasi River will continue to rise by 0.5-2 meters;

In the next 1-2 days, the He River and its tributaries Dong’an River, the Meng River and its tributaries Datong River, the Gui River and its tributaries Siqin River, Fuqun River, and some tributaries of the Right River may experience a water rise of 1-3 meters. Some small and medium-sized rivers in cities such as Qinzhou, Fangchenggang, Hezhou, Wuzhou, Guilin, and Guigang may experience floods around the warning water level.

The hydrological department reminds that it is currently a critical period for flood prevention. It is recommended to strengthen the prevention of sudden small and medium-sized river floods, gully floods, and urban waterlogging caused by local heavy rainfall.

It is also reported that due to the influence of low-level shear lines, Qinzhou, Guangxi experienced a heavy rainfall process starting early this morning. As of 8:00 am, the maximum precipitation was nearly 300 millimeters, and the urban area of Qinzhou City experienced severe waterlogging.
